This might sound a little fastidious, but how is the chassis/engine number shown on the SII specification plate? Is it stamped, embossed or scribed!
Mine was missing and I've just received a nice shiny new blank one, ready to fit (but as my engine is not original I'll have to squeeze 2 numbers onto it)

Dave. I am also in the process of installing a new spec plate. In the 'links' section, Sunbeam Specialists has a place in their catalog section where you "Identify Your Car" which shows a plate and explains some of the codes. I believe ALL of the plates were stamped, if I understand stamping, the catch though is, were they stamped from the BOTTOM or from the TOP. I know there is a difference in the Series' spec plates but I'm not sure which is which. I'll keep an eye on this post as I need to know also. In fact, I'd like to know of someone who can do the stamping, especially if it's from the bottom.

Also. Not sure if you need it but in the 'History" section on the SAOCA home page there's a lot of good info on the spec plates.

If you know all this....:D I'll be Rosanna-Rosanna-Danna......Never mind.

Good luck.

Early through series IV appear to be stamped. Have seen some later series that have embossed (reverse Stamping) any other feed back?
