Jim - I just got off the phone with your mother, and she said it would make her so happy to know there was at least one stock restored Alpine in the Stone family. Please don't go against your mother's wishes Jim. She also wanted me to point out that it's not a Series "III" but a Series 3.

Thanks Scott. That is a huge relief. Since my SV is stock, I am now free to do what I want with the S3.

...She's a smart lady and didn't raise no fools. I don't believe you will be able to find a single place where I have ever refered to a Series "III".

This is something that has intrigued me for some time. There seems to be a convention (mostly in the US ??) where folk are happy to say Series I, II, IV and V but not III. Why use/accept Roman numerals for all except III - After all, Rootes were happy to call them 'III' (in the WSM). And the Romans were content to use III

Cheers, Series III Vic :confused::)

Vic - I must confess, for me at least, it's just a stupid pet peeve that I've perpetuated for years. When you look at the sales literature, advertisements, owner's manual, etc. you get a mixture of "III" and "3", so it would seem not even Rootes could make up their mind. However, it does clearly say "3" on the wing badge, so that's what I'll use when referencing this particular car. We Series 3 owners have to be different, since this is the most unique of the Series Alpines! ;)
