Watching from the wings, it looks like SUNI VII was a great time, and I congratulate and thank the organizers and Clubs for planning and hosting the event. These events are very important to the interest and sustainability of the Sunbeam/Rootes marques.
Now that SUNI is in the rear view mirror, I wanted to take this opportunity to invite all of you to the TEAE United 39, to be held September 15 to 18, 2022 in Oakville, Ontario, Canada. Oakville is on Lake Ontario and west of Toronto, only about an hour from Niagara Falls, New York.
That weekend has been selected as we intend to stage our concours at the annual British Car Day held at Bronte Provincial Park. For you that aren’t aware, British Car Day is the largest, one-day, all-British car event in North America, with visitors not only from eastern Canada and the eastern United States, but as far away as places like Texas, the U.K and New Zealand and representing over 100 British car clubs
.
The event draws more than 1,000 British cars and an incredible 9,000 spectators. Speaking with the organizers, they think 2022 will be an epic and memorable day after being cancelled two years in a row due to covid, and they expect perhaps as many as 1500 cars will be in attendance.
The high attendance expectation is fueled by the fact that British Car Day typically pays tribute to notable British car anniversaries, but next year will carry forward tributes from the cancelled years of 2020 and 2021 as well. Featured 2020 marques will include MG TD, Morgan Plus 4 (celebrating 70 years) and Triumph Stag (50 years) as well as 3 additional models - Jaguar E-type, Triumph TR4 and MG Midget, all celebrating 60 years in 2021. For 2022 the MGB, Triumph TR4 and Lotus Elan will be celebrating their 60th anniversary. Top examples of these fine British marques will be located on Sponsor Street.
They also have over 50 British-related vendors offer their new and used goods for sale, including car parts, complete cars, t-shirts, hats, tools, books, supplies, and so on.
It will be an event you won’t want to miss, so plug September 15 to 18, 2022 into your phones, or circle it on your calendar when you get home. It’s never too early to start planning.
