S-III windshield chrome trim

Car didn't have a windshield when bought. Mix & match pieces and installed a new windshield and rubber from SS.
Sides and top chrome fit well, but the bottom is ending short on both sides. Most of the middle chrome section is fully seated in the rubber.
We put a little caulking on the side pieces to windshield frame (probably ended up about 1/32") and temporarily used screws to tighten the sides before the other side chrome & rubber seals.
Anyone else had problems or ideas?

Worked too late last night.......the bottom chrome goes under the rubber. Still got a little gap like the middle picture.

The body to screen rubber also goes OVER the lower trim.. that should close the final part up for you.

As a side note the trims were polished stainless not chromed so if yours have been chromed you got some extra bling.

It probably is stainless steel, but magnets have a strong attraction to it.

That's because all stainless steel is not created equally. Put most in a Marine environment and you'll see. It's amazing though that hard tops rust away leaving the trim. So it is likely a different vendor used in production. Look at the typical Chinese BBQ...
