Removing my SII Throughout Bearing

The spring steel clips holding in the throughout bearing are clearly drawn and described in the WSM 125 workshop manual. However, the spring steel clips on my 1962 Sunbeam are rounded spring steel clips (see photos) that fit differently than those described in the WSM 125 manual. The WSM 145 workshop manual provides no description or illustration of how to remove and replace the spring steel clips holding the throughout bearing. Since I have never removed a throughout bearing with similar clips, I’m wondering how best to manage the job. It looks like one could simply use a pair of plyers to twist the clips around the end of the fork similar to the description found in WSM124. However, before I stress some retaining springs that I may be unable to replace, I am asking that any of you fellows who have done this please advise me of the procedure.

Yep no big deal, just a screwdriver or long nose pliers and pop the tail of the spring out of the location hole.

Thanks, Mike for the spelling heads up. You might imagine that I was always the first one down in my school spelling bee. As you can see, I still have trouble with spelling even when it is an obvious error. Who knows, I went to school before dyslexic was in the lexicon.

The replacement throwout bearing may come with new clips. If not, the clips are readily available. I know...I just replaced mine about 2 weeks ago.
