Removed the turbo

It is now laying on the garage floor. The Pinto runs a lot better with it there. Lot better throttle response, even pulls more vacuum at idle and at moderate cruise. I think the gummy turbo was causing increased exhaust pressure. Coming up the hill to our drive in 5th at 2000 rpm, it pulls just as well now as it did with turbo making a couple pounds of boost.

But as usual, I did not change just one thing, also replaced the Fish with a slightly modified Holley 32-36. Did that for two reason, not entirely pleased with the performance of the Fish and was having issues with the float valve causing the carb to flood. I now suspect that some of the "Fish" problems were probably caused by the turbo, am going to have to try it again. Got to find out if the increased performance at 2000 is due to the Holley or lack of back pressure. I also now have a miss, starting at just over 3000 rpm. Very interested to find out what impact the Fish will have on that.

Oh - the strange ways I find to have fun!
