As 1. ignition comes up soon, rather simple questions occur. I need a new oilfilter!

I can't get an oil filter for a 'Sunbeam Alpine V' anymore anywhere.
All the young guys in the shops ask Sunbea.. what ? Is this a kind of umbrella, or sausage grill .. No I can't find this type of oil filter in my reference table, sorry Sir; maybe try at Jaguar's, they are british too ]:-<

Serious now, looking around in shops I found filters that will mostlikely fit, physically (threat / diameter). But they all are slightly different in size hight/diameter and so on. Are they different in throughput or so? I am concerned of loosing pressure or filtering effect.
Has anyone a reference number of AC Delco / Bosch / Man or equivalent manufacturers?
Thanks for a hint
Andy

NAPA #1068 (manufactured by Wix) fits perfectly; Fram PH 43 does also. Use those numbers to cross reference to Wix, Hastings, whichever. Don't use Pep Boys/Auto Zone/K-Mart brand filters, as the construction is inferior. Not sure what's available in Switzerland; just make sure the filter wasn't manufactured in China.

In Australia we would use a Ryco Z89A filter (a quality aftermarket brand) but you won't find that brand in Switzerland. However the Ryco site says that many other cars use the same filter including: just about every Volvo model between 142 and 850; Renault 20 1979-83, some Renault Fuego, Landrover diesel 2.5 1991-91, RangeRover V8 1989-2002, Pinto-engined (2 litre OHC) Fords like Cortina and Escort, Fiat 124/125/130 and others.

Hope this helps,

oil filters

fastback,
if you knew the company that makes the three filters that you just mentioned ,you would use them with no problems.also keep in mind that a lot of filters are made in asia for the majors.it's called cost and profit.i have tracked containers of filters coming to my company with a major country wide brand on them.they all work and filter the oil to specs.

The wix filter has an anti flowback valve that helps keep the oil in tha passages while your car is not running. I use the one for the 92 saturn also and I have basically instantanious oil pressure on start up.

Sounds good, I just don't get how it works with an upside down filter?

I have to chime in on this little comment, Purolator makes filters for many store brands they are the generic king of the oil filters. So I will agree with the made in China but many store brands are American made by Purolator AKA Mark IV Automotive Co. I have a whole case of oil filters that I got free for my Sunbeam before it was even restored they are Firestone brand but of course made by Purolartor and were used in a photo session, then up for any takers at the office, crossed referenced and I got a whole case FREE. Nice to know 5 years of service with the company in the Engineering department is still giving me a benefit.

I got the right kind of filter in a quality shop. It turned out to be an "Knecht/Mahle OC25" , made in Austria. Nothing breath taking, but the right one for now. Definitely found to be for a Sunbeam Talbot 1722cc !

The final very help I got from a friendly young lady in the shop, jiggling around the computers cross reference tables. She put quite a bit of effort into helping me. Chapaux / appreciation !
This after all the cool guy's gave up on "Sunbeam what ..?" and stepping back.

Thanks to the hints from you all.
