Nice Fall Drive

I made a trip to Sioux Falls yesterday to have lunch with my best Sunbeam friend George Farrell. I drove to Sioux Falls via Interstate 29. The 80 mph speed limit is largely ignored. Driving Ol' Blue with the 2.8 V6 and Toyota 5 speed it was not any challenge to stay with the fast traffic. The V6/Toyota 5 speed combination is ideal for the high speed interstate cruising. After an enjoyable lunch with George at Kaladi's I headed back home, this time using 55 mph secondary roads. With the beautiful Fall weather - 72 degrees, light winds and clear blue skies - it was a great afternoon for some Sunbeam cruising. 170 miles and several hours later I was back home. I am so glad that I am a Sunbeam driver and not the owner of a trailer queen!

As an old guy I would say you're lucky to be able to drive a long distance in your Beam. I envy you. Jean and I drove Alpines all over the country but now we can't due to Jean's problems so we trailer as do many owners. When setting up the United in 2015 we factored in that we needed a lot of space for trailers.

Paul, I too enjoyed a bit of crusin" in my Blue Boy V6 yesterday.

I think I discovered the cause that it would not start a few times after a run....even though sparadic and not consistent, it would sometimes act as if the battery was dead. Went thru the normal steps. and replaced a couple ground straps. Went back to the Alternator again, NO OUTPUT!!! Replaced it, bingo haven't had any "no-starts" since.

Sure am enjoying the cooler weather.

Sounds like you need a voltmeter in your dash Dan.....
Drive, trailer, or whatever-this is the best time of year to be outside in your Sunbeam!

Today in NY, it wasn't too bad. Got to be almost 60 and partly sunny. Tomorrow is the Gathering of Old
Cars at the Mills Mansion in Staatsburgh, NY. It's a great local event that draws about 300 cars of almost
every category. We're supposed to have a high of about 45, so it will be quite a chilly drive tomorrow morning.
Spent most of today getting the top installed and weatherstripped. At least I'll be somewhat warm!
Cheers!
Steve
