Minx carb cleaning

I finally pulled the bowl on my carb this morning to clean it out. Wow, was it filled with crap. I am guessing the previous owner who got the car running after so long didn't bother with a filter at first. I am amazed it has been running and driving as well as it had for the last few weeks.

Anyway, I found it to be a pretty slick setup. Four bolts and the bowl drops off... then easy enough to clean the jets and most of the circuits etc.. Compared to some of the Zenith WIP of the Alpine I thought it's assembly and cleanabilty was much easier. I also thought the design was more rugged and less likely to develop air leaks (for some reason I have had the worse luck with WIP bases warping)

British Car Day at Boston's Lars Anderson museum is tomorrow. www.mot.org
I am going to bring the Minx and one of the Alpines (the old rally car).
