In the early series cars was the enginge block just black? and if so was it a gloss or matte finish. Was the timing cover, sump etc all the same colur as well.

Hi,

May I add that it was not a high gloss black. It is infact 80% gloss. You can buy the 2 part paint at any percentage of gloss. I have a number of NOS engine parts with the Rootes stickers on and I have used these for comparison. I also prefer to add 3% matting agent to get it spot on but thats just me:eek:.

Good luck in your quest.

Yes, I have mentioned here many times not to use the modern "wet" look gloss paint (activated urethanes).
