In need of a panel/dress nut for the early series OD switch. This would be the final , outside nut locking the switch to the surround.
Appreciate any help.

Iirc they use the chrome swicth escutcheons per the dashboard toggles ... But check first... Been a while since I've played with that...and am not near the car to check.

They look the same, right size but different threads. 9/16 x maybe 24 or 28 thread count.

Still looking. The usual places, Fastenal, electric supply companies, etc do not carry them .
Btw, it apparently is 9/16 x 28. I removed this switch from the car months ago however the nut is down the rabbit hole
and will turn up as soon as I don't need it.

So, I removed the dress nut from a toggle switch on my Series II to see if it would fit the OD switch. It does not.
So far nothing from a series Alpine will fit.
Left to assume the OD switch I have and removed from a Series II is not a factory installation, but an off the shelf on/off variety.
Does anyone know if the Series II switch was ans on/off or momentary switch??

The series I/II swicth was not a momentary swicth that returned to centre. That was the system used for the series 3-V...
Maybe show the photo of your swicth and stalk

Just as a historical note, although most of the British auto industry transitioned in the mid-to-late 1950’s, Lucas, Smiths, Jaeger and S.U. were among the last to transition from Whitworth/BS/BA to National/UNF/UNC, and as such you’re likely to find the old standard threads on their components well into the 1970’s. If the component was redesigned or new, it generally (but not always!) got the new threads, but if it was a continuation item it didn’t. Hence the mess we’re seeing as we restore these cars. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Thanks Puff4, it is an oddity for sure. I have slightly modified the mounting and now have a working switch. If ever I get the right nut it will be easy to change to original. Btw, this switch/stalk is 6 inches end to end which is shorter than the III-V J.Miller has on his store room.
