My engine block, which is original to the car, has a date of 9/7/63 cast into it. I am assuming that is a European style date of July 9th because September 7th was a Saturday and was after the date of manufacture of my car, which according to the tech section was the week of August 19th. Must have been a lot of engines in process - guess that was before the push for lean manufacturing and just in time inventory.
