Best done with the dash OFF, so you can get at the retention clips on the backside of the surround. REAL EASY TO BREAK, by the way!! You needn't remove the gauges to do this either.

Or, if you're a contorsionist, crawl under the passenger side and gently pry off the clips. I'm 5'4", so I can stand under the dash...
