Chrome headlight trim?

What is on the front of this Alpine? It looks like there is chrome trim that is slipped over the normal headlight ring.

Yes you hit the nail on the head, they are off of a rapier, SI to SII for sure.
My SIII Rapier had headlight trim rings similart to my Alpine other than that they had been chrome and mounted with a clip and not a screw.

Looks kind of cute. The side mirrors are unique as well. Looks to be a bit of a melange...bumpers, grille are not correct...are they?

What's the story on the car and the photo?

the body looks to be series 3 with either a partial series 4 or 5 grill and series 4 or 5 over riders. is this a type D built on a series 3 body? or did someone home build it?

Hello chaps,

Actually, the headlamp rims in the photo appear to be off the last series Singer Gazelle SIV, sold as a Hillman Gazelle here in Australia. Same style as the early Rapiers and Gazelles but the chrome section is more delicate to match the profile of the lower side mould. They do look out of place on an Alpine!
