Brake Rotors?

There's no minimum in the WSM - only a run-out specification of .004". However, our brakes are very similar to MGB, and for that car Lockheed has stated the minimum thickness at 7.6mm, or .297".

The critical minimum thickness is really the thickness at which there is a chance that the pads may be allowed to jump out of their slots and jam the rotor against the caliper. However, the disc's ability to dissipate heat and to not warp is also a factor.

If you were to contact a brake Specialist who is able to "skim" rotors, they should know the acceptable machining limits based on the original thickness. I think that this was 1/2 inch but I may be wrong.

Well there you have it Paul, the original minimum thickness, the lowest tollerance the factory would accept through final inspection. Since the pads would take the wear, they'd probably remain at factory minimum for quite a few stops.
