Body Number ID Plate Finish

What is the correct finish for the body # ID plate for a Series I? In searching photos I see some that have been painted body color and sone that are either bare or plated (can’t tell from the photos).

The data plate is just aluminum sheet metal. If it was painted, someone was too lazy to remove it.
I guess you are referring to the smaller plate, and yes, it was painted when the body was painted.

This is a series 2 but the same as a series 1.
