1966 series V stock condition

I am installing a new carpet set.

After ripping up the old and laying out the new, I noticed 2 flat head screws mounted with short sleeves attached to the vertical face in front of the battery box on either side of the transmission hump.

I do not understand their function. Could they be carpet mounting attachments?
I hope my description is reasonable. I can take a picture if needed.

Please help to Identify and explain the function.

Yep! There snaps for the carpet/padding that folds over the rear seat deck. ... and theres generally 4 of 'em .. two on either side of da hump.

I found 3 more-- along the battery shelf rear. My guess is that a previous owner used snaps so as to have a secure carpet and snapped access to the battery.

How were things done from the factory?
