Looks like that side panel from a seat frame for the later seats.
They're usually rotted off and were welded to the frame.

That is a good one on me! I looked my Alpines over a thousand times trying to "fit" that piece of metal some where, about gone crazy, knowing full well it came from one of my cars:) Did not think of the seats?
