Additional Ground Wire

Hi all,

I'm looking for a recommendation on an additional ground wire. Does anyone have a recommendation on where to ground the engine to the firewall? Also, is a bare braided steel cable okay, or does it need to be shielded? (I realize the one from trans to frame is bare braided)

From the block to one of the motor mount bolts that go to the cross member!

Shielded?
I suspect that you mean "insulated" ???

First - 100% sgree with Tom H on you want low resistance.

It does not need to be insulated, but my personal preference would be insulated copper, similar to that used for most modern battery cables. In this case, insulation slows down oxidation (green patina on copper).

And if you get it made or make it yourself, black insulation covering it will make it fade more into the background if you want to keep as much of a stock look as practical.

Just go to a welding supply shop and get a foot or 2 of number 4 or 6 welding cable and lugs.
You can also make lugs out of small copper tubing if the welding supply shop doesn't have ones that will fit your bolt size.
Welding cable has fine gauge copper wire strands inside of the sheath, and will hold up very well to vibration.

Why do you think you need an additional ground wire? It sounds like you have the ground wire at the gearbox mount. That should be sufficient.
