    V6 Motor and Trans help

Seriously? Is this diatribe still going on here? Completely not true! I have done a GM V6 swap with the ford T5 in my 62. It's a beautiful swap that looks like it was meant to be in there! http://www.lx9alpine.com/lx9-v6.html The engine is an LX9 3.5 liter that in stock form produces 200HP...

Since I have the IRS from the IS300 I may as well play around with it and see what it would take to install it in the Alpine. I want to make an IRS sub-frame/cradle that will bolt into the leaf spring mounting holes similar to these examples for kit Cobras; and HERE: I would love to...

    LX9 Alpine

Here's a good video to show what the LX9 would be like in an Alpine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ad9oaez6Cq4&list=LLbAC9CG6Dda_N-xfpYiQgxw&index=2 This engine has had a few mods like a cam, headers, and larger exhaust.

This Lexus unit comes with 12" non vented rotors and a 2 piston caliper. It has some good components, but it is NOT an easy solution. I would have to figure out all the correct geometry and build custom control arms and the framework. I also don't want to cut up my car. (if I wanted to do that...

IS300 IRS Weight Bill, I need to figure out a way to weigh it. It probably weighs a little less than that, but the sub frame is quite beefy so I may be mistaken. It has nice rotors and integrated little drum brakes that are cable actuated for the emergency brake. Bashby, So apples to apples...

    IRS in an Alpine?

I need to put a rear differential/suspension in my car. Have there been many Alpines or Tigers that have had an IRS installed? Was it heavier than an 8" or dana 40? I posted this in my "LX9 Alpine" build thread, but I think more people will see it and chime in if it's in it's own thread...

    LX9 Alpine

Solid axle or IRS? I am looking at my options of using either a narrowed solid axle like the 8" or a IRS setup that I obtained out of a Lexus IS300 as shown here: http://www.lx9alpine.com/rear-suspension.html Weight is a deciding factor for me. I want to keep the weight of the car down...

I have started making a list of all the parts necessary to convert the LX9 V6 from front wheel drive to our rear wheel drive orientation. The parts list and links for the engine components can be found here; http://www.lx9alpine.com/lx9-v6-fwd-to-rwd-conversion-parts-needed.html And the...

    LX9 Alpine

Crossmember welding I cleaned up and re-welded the joints on the front crossmember. Not only does it look nicer, it will be more capable of handling the extra force a higher power engine and some track time will put on it. You can see more pics here http://lx9alpine.com/chasis.html Now I...

Motor Mounts I could use some input on motor mounts. I purchased some doughnut style mounts from SpeedWay Motors, but they seem huge! Aren't there any other smaller urethane mounts that would work better? I looked on the net and couldn't find a set (suitably priced that is).

Thanks Bill, The solenoid isn't a problem, it must just be the picture. The oil filter location is a problem however. It is really tight in that very small area that all the primaries have to go through and after I got everything all tacked together cylinder #2 primary went right through the...

    LX9 Alpine

Where it all began I ran across this photo of my first Alpine. I was in my mid twenties (~1990) and it was my only vehicle. I drove it year round for several years in the Denver Colorado area. The hard top came in handy during the winter months and the car got me around just fine unless the...
