    Exhaust on the Holbay head

Under the exhaust valve there are a sharp edge. It is the same on the standard head and it is quite easy to remove it. But why haven't they done it on the Holbay, when they have done so nice inlet ports? Or is it supposed to be there? Seems unlikely to me.

My Holbay head, a lost case?

As you can see, unpleasant actions in the combustion chambers has been going on. 1 and 4 are on the limit or has it gone to far?

    Wiring colour.

I have an (disconnected) amp gauge on my Alpine 5. The car has an alternator. I am going to replace the amp gauge with an volt-meter because it is more sense. Brown and brown-white are the amp wires. But what kind of wires am I going to use for the voltmeter so I will have "UK standard wire colour"?

    Radiator fan problem.

Many years there was same talk about radiator fan that did break and a wing did shoot through the bonnet. If you could see cracks close to the centre it was a sign of a coming disaster. I did on my Rapier replace the quite crude 4 blade tin fan to a modern made of plastic. No problem today?

    Stromberg vs Weber

Today you can buy an off-the-shelf finished 32/36 DGV conversion from one of the Alpine specialists. I am thinking about it myself. It is supposed to be better in every way as a replacement to Zenith-Stromberg. How can it be that much better performance-wise. Why can't a well adjusted Z-S set-up...

    Head differences

Are there any differences between the two kind of al-heads. I mean the inlet and exhaust channels. They appears to be the same.

    Alpine colours

I did go to this side "http://sunbeamalpine.org/color-codes-interior-schemes/" "Click to sample colours below" No, it didn't work. How to do?

    Incoming area for water?

I did look inside the front wing and noticed it was a gap of 10 m.m. between the body and the wing. Is it supposed to be some kind of sealing there to stop water and mud entering this area?

Is it worth the effort to replace the cast iron manifold from the S V to the earlier tubular manifold!

Alpine and Tiger at the track

In some in-the-car videos I have noticed it is a lot of sawing the steering wheel when driving the Tiger. That is normal , was the explanation. Then I saw an in-car-video from an well-known Alpine S1 and it was no wheel-sawing: Was this just a coincidence and are a lot of wheel-sawing when...

    Leave the Holbay set-up!

There are a lot of question about how to make the engine work without the Holbay head but just the Holbay camshaft. Why not use a standard head, preferably a Hunter (Arrow), do some combustion head modifying, and buy an fast road/rallying (or similar) camshaft from one if the clever camshaft...

    Reinforcement tube

The reinforcement tube on the left side seems to be in the way for the DCOE carburetor tubes (if you have the long ones). Has anyone tried to move or bend them sideways. Has anyone replaced them with something else. (More effective?)

    Messy engine compartment

Why does it have to look so messy around the engine in an Alpine. Electrical wires in all directions, rubber hoses all over and around the engine?

    Ginetta G21

I understand that Ginetta are a unknown car in US. Quite unknown i Europe too. They where made with Ford 1600, Ford V6, and Rootes 1725 Alpine or Holbay engines. I think they got a good deal from Rootes and made a lot with Rootes parts. The reason for my interest of this model is because it has...

    Rev. counter!

The original rev. counter can sometimes be quite unpredictable. Mine are anyway. Some of them have hard ta exceed 4000 rpm. I know some has made this conversion with a newer electronics behind the original dial. Can I find this topic somewhere?

    Modifying the original brakes

Has it been anything been written here about modifying the original brakes. If so, can someone tell me where I can find it. Can something be done, or are they good enough?
