    Coolant Leak

Thanks! That's great advice....it only leaks once the motor is on and it's pressurized. I'll see what I have....I think all my tools are for creating a vacuum, not the other way around.

    Coolant Leak

It's leaking from the area where the gasket is located between the coolant take and the thermstat stem

    Coolant Leak

I had the coolant tank off of my 62 SII to replace the thermostat. But now coolant is leaking out and I can't for the life of me get it to stop - have had it on and off 3 times to make sure the gasket is properly situated. Are there any tricks or hints? Should I be using sealant?

Temperature sender - where are you?

Sorry for the dumb question - it's not the first time for me - but where is the under-hood temperature sending unit supposed to be located in a 62 MKII? I think the PO of my car disconnected and capped - the temp gauge wires are cut and I can't find where he capped it off.

    Zenith carb question-diagram?

I finally found a little time to take a look. After some bolt/screw tightening there were good squirts in both carbs when moving the throttle linkage. So progress on that. Both carbs had gas in the float bowls and both floats seemed to move ok. But at idle and at steady higher rpms I could see...

    Zenith carb question-diagram?

Thank you both!! Very helpful!! With 7 old cars it was past time for me to learn about carbs. My project for the day, after I buy my kids back to school supplies, clean the garage, talk with my mom....will keep you posted.

    Zenith carb question-diagram?

Beamdream, thanks for the great advice. I could see I have an issue at your very first point-with engine off one carb has a super strong stream and the other just dribbles. What is the usual cause of that?

    Zenith carb question-diagram?

Does anyone have a diagram for the zenith carbs on SII? I'm used to finding pretty much everything on Google but my searches turned up nada. My 61 alpine has the original zenith carbs, which were rebuilt at some point by the PO. Lucky for me because I have carb-o-phobia. Have recently had some...

    Ground strap question

I found it and put on the strap - thanks! Interesting history too of that bolt - would've never guessed it's history

    Ground strap question

Thanks so much - my project for tomorrow. Do you happen to know if there should be another one in the engine bay?

    Ground strap question

I've been over most areas of my S2 and haven't noticed the motor-frame or transmission-frame ground straps I've seen people mentioning in the forums. In my Triumph GT6 they're big honking braided wires that are impossible to miss so if Sunbeams are similar I'm thinking mine are gone and which...

What did you do with your Sunbeam today? My Inaugural Run!!

Took my 62 out for it's inaugural run yesterday - here's a pic of mine at the halfway point, where we stopped for a hike. Almost a year to the day since I bought it, only to realize the car wouldn't start, wasn't driveable and needed way more TLC than I'd thought....full of mice, shot brakes...
