Door suddenly will not open

After operating just fine for all of the nine months or so that I have owned this '67 SV, my passenger side (RHS) interior door handle will no longer open the door. The post on which the door handle mounts is stuck in place (i.e., it will not rotate) and will therefore not move the metal strap arm to disengage the latch to open the door. The door still opens from the outside though.

I have already removed the interior door panels on both doors, so I can see how the passenger side door is supposed to work. Can I take take this mechanism apart to investigate, clean and reassemble? What might I be looking for? Any tips, tricks or suggestions would be most appreciated.

BTW- What is this mechanism called? Has anyone ever noticed that the Parts List- Sunbeam Alpine Series I, II, III, IV & V (Publication No. 6600992) printed by Chrysler Overseas Trading Co. Ltd is missing Page YX4? Guess how I discovered that. Because the part I am talking about here is identified on pg YX4, which does not exist in either of two copies of the Parts List I have been able to locate. For some reason, pg YX12 lies b/t pgs YX3 and YX5.

For the sake of clarity, the part I am talking about is #76 on the attached “Plate B- Section YX” from the above referenced Parts List. Again, it’s the part that engages the metal strap arm to open the door when you turn the interior door handle. It is not illustrated in the SS catalogue either, though many other parts from Plate B are included in the applicable SS diagram. If I cannot fix it and have to eventually try to seek a replacement on ebay or whatever, it would obviously be helpful if I first knew the proper name of the part I am looking for. Any help out there?

Many thanks.

This part no 76 is called "Remote control, O/S (R.H.) Door lock". O/S stands for Off Side which is the same as Right Hand.
My copy of the Parts List includes your missing page YX 4.

Thanks, Peter. Your reply prompted me to look directly into the SAOCA Tech Data folder, where I found a "v2" copy of the Parts List that does in fact include pg YX4. I think that my original copy was downloaded from the mhartman web site a while back.

So that resolves one of my problems. I do still hope that someone might provide insight into why my "Remote control, O/S (R.H.)" has suddenly seized up and whether/how I might fix it.

Cheers.

An embarrassingly simple fix: Remove. Hit it with PC Blaster. Lubricate. Done.
