Let's see, two windows and an exhaust fan. I had everything except two windows. Our garage window inventory is zero. Same for entry doors, except for the one going into the house. Blowing huge quantities of clean air into the booth works just fine. I left a 2ft square air exit hole in the plastic sheeting.
Dan, when painting in a garage, the setup I have always seen was having a fan exhaust air out and putting a filter in an open window for the air that’s being replaced.
So am an overzealous safety freak for having a problem with pulling paint fumes through ordinary fans?

I don't think so! Being cautious will pay dividends in the long shot.

Lou will be here Tuesday and by that time I will be ready to start spraying colour (RED) on that SIV GT.

Looking forward to getting that little task done so I can get the V6 & A4LD & get the MicroSquirt started.... Be nice to have it ready for the SUNI :)

Hope you Guys are lining up for the Huge Gathering in MO.

Dan & Bill-you have made alot of progress in a year. Of course if ether one of you hit a snag you have alternatives.
Barb & I are ready for Sept SUNI 7 plus other events that we all missed out on last year.

Note: I've sent Dan an email about this, posting for the potential safety of others who want to circulate and filter paint booth air as Dan is doing in the photo.

I made the fan assembly "air box" to send filtered, outside air into my paint booth. As a result, the motor is an ordinary 1/3 hp shop motor and is NOT explosion proof. Same goes for any wiring or switches that may be present. Common paint thinners are very flammable and probably explosive.

Bill
So your fan is outside pushing air through the filters?

No. My setup had the fan sucking clean air through filters, then forcing into the paint room. Air escaped the paint room via the 2' square opening in the plastic sheeting. Paint never touched a filter.

That is the right way to do it. The entire system is filtered and the "paint booth" is slightly positive pressure to prevent anything from coming in.

Final painting of the insides of the doors, hood and trunk lid. No wrinkle or fish eyes:)

Here are the results of some hard labor sanding the FE's after use of a clear coat that was not compatible with the base coat.

Went back to sanding and priming, spraying the sealer, then base coat with everything looking nice.

Applied the better clear and hardener with more than satisfactory results.
