Sunbeam-experienced mechanic near Monterey?

Hi there,

I'm trying to restore my fathers '67 Alpine and need professional help, but prefer it to be local. Does anyone here know of a mechanic in Monterey County with Sunbeam experience?

I reached out to Rick at rootes.com and he kindly referred me to Antique Auto Restoration in Seaside, who have bought parts from him, but they have terrible reviews. If it helps to know, I'm mainly looking to get the electric redone, new brakes and suspension.

Thanks in advance for any tips you have!

Conall

Conall, i'm a little late in reading your request for mechanic referrals. Here in Alberta most of the shops with mechanics in their late 50's and 60's can do the basic work such as brakes and suspension. Because those are the old systems they got their apprentice papers on. The same probably in your area. It will be vastly helpful to them if you buy the sunbeam manual from Rick, and give it to the mechanic. Things like electrical take more time to figure out. I love the color of your car. Is the body original or was there some work done to it? It looks rust free..

I will look for the info, not sure I still have it. I thought there was a guy up there that worked on and had all kinds of Sunbeam parts, I think his last name was King.
