Didn't say where I found it. Two seat rear engine body, looks like a twin cam 4 he's working on. Best guess, perhaps a Lotus.

I think it might be a Cooper T51. Of course, Jack Brabham was World Champion driving the F1 Cooper. The time period suggest around 1960/61. I thought it might be a T53 Cooper but those had coil springs on the rear - I think. Mike, you are right it is a Twin Cam Coventry Climax motor.

I have several times heard a rumor about brabhams minx, the one seen in the background... I will relay the rumor and then give my thoughts on how these things probably become embelished... You can kind of reverse engineer the growth of the story.

Rumor: Brabhams minx had a specially cast prototype all alloy rootes 1592 motor.. now if you just cast the block in alloy using the same moulds the expansions would be different when running and the motors clearences would be impacted.... ( think first aston db4 engines) .. So i dont see that happening...

To early for a prototype imp motor... But given brabhams coventry climax engine connections.. Maybe he fitted a 1.2 or 1.5 all alloy coventry climax motor as used in the lotus elite?... That would be an all alloy motor and would certianly fit a minx... But not very practical though...

Im guessing the minx probably had a rapier/alpine alloy head motor with one of jacks tunning kits... Seems easy and most likely...

But its easy to see how the myth could evelove from alloy head rootes motor to all alloy engine.....

Cooper was the name I just couldn't remember. And I believe it is probably the Climax twin cam 4, although you can't really see enough and blown up the photo is too blurry to tell for sure.
