    proportioning valve

So if my brakes go out, I have no brake lights either. I had no idea. I thought there was probably a switch at the pedal or something. LL

Thanks. What are the electrical wires for? Lloyd

    proportioning valve

So, what is this? Is it original? What is it called? I don't see anything like it in in the shop manual or in the SS catalog. My mechanic cleaned it out, bled the lines, & my brakes work great now. Lloyd

    proportioning valve

My mechanic says my brakes are fading because the proportioning valve is failing. Not something I've heard of before. Does it make sense to you? I don't see anything like that in the Sunbeam Specialties catalog or with a forum search. Where can I find one or can I get a rebuild kit...

Lever Arm Shocks on Series II

As I recently learned, lever shocks originally leaked by design, so had to be refilled every 3000 miles or so. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L7H0hafzgm0 (Warning--Rock 'n Roll music) Rebuilt shocks, by Apple or World Wide (http://www.nosimport.com/), are redesigned with ball bearings...

    A couple suspension questions

I had my mechanic install new Spax adjustable front shocks on my Series 1. How do I judge that they are adjusted properly? Also, he said my rear leaf springs are "weak and tired" and that he can send them out to be restored. What do you think? A quick web search distinguishes between...

    SIV Dip Switch

can switch be fixed? I opened the forum today to ask a question about the headlight dimmer switch, and behold, it is the first topic. The switch in my Series 1 does does not switch to high. Is it possible to open and repair the switch? I don't see a replacement available at Sunbeam...

    Looseness in steering wheel

Here is a photo indicating where the wheel is slipping. Again, it slips about 15 degrees and then holds tight. Anyone have experience like this? Also, I don't see the screw holes that I would expect to find for a steering wheel puller. Lloyd

    Looseness in steering wheel

I noticed when driving my Series I Alpine that the stock steering wheel now turns about 4 inches before turning begins. It then engages and works until I turn the other way and the same 4 inch free play is apparent. I took the horn ring and the cowling off to look. The large nut was tight...

    opening hood

I opened the hood just fine, closed it, and now it won't open. The pull handle under the dash box now feels very loose--not connected. What do I do? How do I open the hood without being able to release the catch? Can opener? Thanks, Lloyd

    cooling system leak

What material should I get to replace the gasket under the triangular flange that holds the radiator cap onto the aluminum overflow tank.? I would like to have the material before I unbolt it. The present gasket is black and about t 3/16" thick. Thanks, Lloyd Series I

    Fuse Unit

Thanks. Found the fuse box and replaced the fuse. Now I will know when I am overheating or running out of gas. Also turn signals work now. Lloyd
