Super Minx Dash

After having the laminate peeling off the dash. Decided to remove the piece off and see what I am up against. Good chance of possibly removing the old and replacing with new. Unless someone has a parts car with a good wood insert! Another issue would be the letters under switches & knobs those will be loss of course. Any suggestions for those? Looking for a padded dash to replace my previously repaired and cracked pad. Changing the windscreen rubber and changing the pad would be a lot easier that way. Finally a wiper switch for a Minx with the washer knob/wiper switch. Thread to dash is cross threaded(aluminum)arggg!

You can buy nice wood laminate at Lowes, Home Depot etc and stain to suit your requirements. You can buy letters to make the labels as required, pretty fiddily though. I was able to find a set of labels on ebay for all the switches and knobs, took a bit of searching, can't recall the supplier.

Thanks, recall a thread about the labels. Was there a way to seal them in so they won’t peel off in the future?

Matched the back of the vernier to a red oak pc that I found at Menards. Have plenty of material to get the stain color right. I see what you mean by labels being fidley, would take a couple of sheets JIC we go that way. A Cricut machine may work (Barb’s suggestion).

My Mk1 Super Minx came with a full wooden dash, a local dealer option from Leicester, UK. I know of 4 others in the UK. It is a plywood overlay, with a veneer coat. It has suffered from 40 years in a lockup garage. I scraped off the cracked lacquer, restained it and re-lacquered it.

Got the letters in. See how this goes, Barb volunteered to apply them to the dash. With her great crafting skills should have no problem. Got the decals from k4decals.com out of Dayton Ohio.

Final finish coat of gloss, put the trim rings back in. Now to re-glue the brackets on the back.

Got everything back together. Took it to our local cruise night, forgot how nice it rides. RainX the window just in case.
Made it back home and the 50+ upper radiator hose cracked and sprung a leak in the garage. What timing! Now if I could find some basket weave rubber mat material I could replace the green carpet remnant!
