Rear axle seals

Did a search on removing axle with hub assembly in tact for a S2 but couldn't find a definitive answer.
Is it possible by removing backing plate bolts and pull axle as hub unit for leak?

You can pull it as a unit, but pulling the hub off the axle is a bugger. Might want to remove the nut off the axle before you pull it though.

There is video on early Series Hub removal that we published on The Sunbeam Alpine Channel on YouTube a couple of years ago that may assist.

Brent, the bub seal (on pre SV axles) is in the sheetmetal seal cover that is between the hub (which protrudes it) and the brake cover pressing.
Since its between the two, you have to separate the hub from the axle to put the seal into the seal cover. A royal pain for sure.

This thread motivated me to post a copy of an email I got from Ramon some time ago.

I started a new thread about rear hub pulling for better searching.

Thanks for the answer, looks like hub puller is the way to go
